PROCEDURE GUIDELINES

Zane State College is committed to continuous improvement in teaching and learning. The faculty evaluation procedure at ZSC is designed to provide a systematic process for faculty and administration to evaluate professional performance and support continued professional growth and development.

Each adjunct/CCPH faculty member is assigned a faculty liaison/subject matter expert before the beginning of each semester. The liaison is the adjunct faculty member’s Zane State point of contact. Each unique course must be observed once per year.

 

Initial Observations need to be in person. If satisfactory, subsequent observations can be Zoom if a live observation is not possible.

The liaison will attend the scheduled class session, review the course Blackboard site and complete the Classroom Observation of Instruction form. The dean or designee will review the course Blackboard site for online observations before completing the Observation form.

The signed observation form and any responses and comments should be returned to the liaison within one week of receipt.

 

The liaison will meet virtually with faculty to discuss the content and responses to the Classroom Observation of Instruction form.

Faculty Liaisons:

Week 1 of the Semester:

  1. By week one of the CCP class start date, faculty liaisons should review and approve the syllabus.
  2. Forward the syllabus to the Office Coordinator.
  3. Blackboard shell general assistance, contact blackboard@zanestate.edu
  4. Assist adjunct faculty with course content (copy shell if possible)
  5. Message the adjunct include that the liaison is the primary contact for:
    • Blackboard shell
    • Blackboard assistance
    • Class content
    • Tests and measures (if applicable)
    • Ensure CCP faculty member has copier access to the BB shell

 

Weeks 2, 5, 9, & 14

Liaison needs to access LMS to assess student progress in the class and review student artifacts.

Week 6 for new adjunct faculty

or

Week 12 for veteran adjunct faculty

Observe adjunct faculty (Log into My ZSC, Human Resources - Performance Management, scroll to the bottom for Faculty Observation Form) and submit to faculty chair

 

Observation Process:

Liaison

  • Perform observation
  • Discuss with adjunct
  • Send completed observation to your course facilitator
  • Course Facilitator will document completed observation

Once the course facilitator has completed and tallied all observations, they will send the total ESUs sheet to Office Coordinator. The Office Coordinator will submit to Chief Academic Officer for payment.

Course Facilitator Responsibilities:

  • Assign faculty liaisons
  • Record the following information in the CCP Course Schedule file;
  • Date of initial liaison contact and development if appropriate
  • Date of observation (Course facilitator should keep an electronic copy of evaluation. Send copy to Dean.
  • Submit observation paperwork to Office Coordinator
