3357:12-16-65-1-Social Media Guidelines

A.POLICY

Serve as a source of information and strengthens connections and communication with students, alumni, donors, employees, and the community via Zane State College’s social media accounts.

Zane State College believes that having a presence in these areas will allow the College to instantly broadcast information and interact with the public. In order to operate within these media effectively, the College has developed social media guidelines to ensure that any and all interactions on behalf of Zane State College represent the College’s best interests.

B.POLICY GUIDELINES

These guidelines are broad in nature to accommodate differences in online venues while maintaining a universal code of conduct. The guidelines will be adjusted as necessary according to the situation and/or modality.

The Zane State College social media guidelines only apply to social media accounts created to represent Zane State College groups, departments, programs, and entities and does not apply to private individual accounts.

Because the technology that drives online communication changes rapidly, this policy may be adjusted to address issues that may arise in the management and implementation of the content or for any other reason that supports the College’s priorities for the content.

Social Media Accounts Officially Recognized by the College

For a group’s social media account to be recognized by the College as an official social media account, the group administrators must seek approval from Zane State College’s Marketing Department.

The Marketing Department will review all social media inquiries and requests, should also be used as a resource for the College community for any social media need, and make recommendations in any situation regarding the use of social media.

Account Administrators

Administrators of Zane State College-affiliated social media accounts are held responsible for managing and monitoring content of their officially recognized accounts. The Marketing Department must be made an administrator or member of all official College social media accounts and groups. Administrators are responsible for removing content that may violate the College’s conduct policies and, in the case of an employee, notify the Marketing Department at marketing@zanestate.edu and the Office of Human

Resources hr@zanestate.edu. In the case of a student group or organization, notify the Marketing Department at marketing@zanestate.edu and Student Services at studentservices@zanestate.edu.
