A.POLICY

Zane State College is strongly committed to the development and conservation of a professional and educational environment where all individuals are evaluated based solely on the individual merit of their professional and academic performance, rather than favoritism or partiality.

B.POLICY GUIDELINES

 

For purposes of this policy, nepotism is defined as the provision of favorable treatment, or the appearance of such treatment, by a person in an evaluative, supervisory, or resource allocation position to a relative or other individual residing within their household. The specific actions that are covered by this policy include, but are not limited to, appointing, terminating, scheduling and assigning of classes, promoting, demoting, determining compensation, appraising performance, and making decisions regarding grievance and disciplinary proceedings. For purposes of this policy, a relative is defined as a person that one is connected to by blood, adoption, marriage, or cohabitation and would include an individual’s spouse, children, parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Zane State College expressly prohibits any employee from evaluating, supervising, or making any other employment related decision regarding any relative or person residing within their household.
