B.POLICY GUIDELINES
The following standards of conduct and disciplinary sanctions pertain to employees and students of the College:
- Employees and students are prohibited from the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol on College property or as part of any of the College’s activities.
- Employees are required to notify the Office of Human Resources of any drug or alcohol related convictions occurring at the College no later than five days after that conviction. Failure to abide by this College policy will result in immediate disciplinary probation status for the employee and possible termination of employment.
- Students who violate this policy will be in violation of the Student Code of Conduct. Disciplinary action will be taken according to the procedures outlined in the Student Handbook. The College can impose sanctions (consistent with local, state, and federal law) up to and including dismissal from the College and referral for prosecution for violations.
- If applicable, the College will notify the appropriate federal funding agency within ten days after receiving notice of a drug conviction that occurred on campus.
- Within 30 calendar days of receiving notice with respect to any employee who is convicted:
- Disciplinary action will be taken against the employee up to and including termination.
- Disciplinary action may require the employee to satisfactorily participate in or complete an approved substance abuse/rehabilitation program as a condition of their continued employment.
There may be possible legal sanctions and/or penalties imposed on a College employee or student under federal, state, or local laws for the unlawful possession or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol.
