3357:12-14-72-Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid


Satisfactory Academic Progress is defined as progress in credit courses taken at the College that result in the credit hour to grade point average (GPA) ratio as specified by the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. Maintaining satisfactory progress ensures that you are staying on track to have the GPA required for graduation.

Academic Warning- For any semester in which a student’s grade point average for the term drops below 2.00 they will be placed on academic warning. If a student is placed on academic warning they will receive a communication from the College.

Academic Probation- A student who is beyond their first semester is placed on academic probation when their cumulative grade point average is below that designated by the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. The student will be restricted from registering for classes until they meet with an academic advisor in The One Stop. This restriction also applies to students

on academic probation who have already registered for classes for the next semester and attempt to add a class. A student who has been placed on academic probation will have 12 attempted credit hours to improve their cumulative grade point average to that designated by the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress.

 

Academic Dismissal- A student will be academically dismissed from the College if, after being placed on academic probation and registering for 12 additional credit hours, the student’s cumulative grade point average remains below the designated Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. A student who is academically dismissed from the College will not be permitted to enroll the following semester. If the student has already registered for the next semester, their courses will be dropped and the student will not be permitted to attend. The student may petition for readmission according to College procedures.
