3357:12-14-63-Fresh Start Policy
|
|
Fresh Start is intended to assist students who previously had academic difficulties at the College by providing them with the opportunity to have grades of “D” “F” or “FN” excluded from their grade point average (GPA). Students must meet eligibility requirements and agree to the Fresh Start Policy rules in order to qualify for approval. An application for Fresh Start is available in the Registrar’s Office. The Registrar, student advisor, and academic dean will determine approval of all Fresh Start applicants.
Eligibility Requirements:
- A minimum of two consecutive years (six consecutive semesters) of nonattendance at the College.
- Completion of a minimum of 18 credit hours at the College following the two years of nonattendance with a grade of “C” or better in each course. Courses taken as pass/fail are not eligible for consideration.
Rules:
- The student may use Fresh Start one time only.
- The courses approved under the Fresh Start Policy will be disregarded in computing cumulative GPA; however, all courses and grades remain on the student’s transcript. Grades of D, F, FN approved for Fresh Start will be marked as DZ and FZ. This is non-reversible once the Fresh Start Policy is activated.
- Students may not use a forgiven course as a substitution course. However, the student’s updated GPA may be used in determining eligibility for honors, awards, and other recognitions associated with specific GPA standards.
