3357:12-14-53-Policy on Semester Class Registration

A.POLICY

This policy outlines the procedures for semester class registration at Zane State College. It establishes guidelines for how new and continuing students register for courses and the resources available to support them during the registration process.

B.POLICY GUIDELINES

  1. Registration for New Students
    • New students are required to attend a registration event and an orientation day prior to starting at the College.
    • During orientation, students will receive support to register for their first-semester courses.
    • Students are introduced to My ZSC (the student portal) and are provided with guidance on how to access academic resources, schedules, and registration tools.
  2. Registration for Continuing Students
    • Continuing students may register for courses using one of the following methods:
      • Online Registration: Students may register for courses online through the My ZSC portal.
      • Faculty Advisor: Students may meet with a faculty advisor for academic guidance and registration assistance.
      • Success Coach: Students may meet with a Success Coach for additional support with course selection and registration.
  3. Registration Periods
    • Registration periods for the upcoming semester are published on the academic calendar and communicated to students via email and the Zane State College website.
    • Priority registration is typically granted to certain student populations, such as those in selective programs, athletes, and veterans.
  4. Course Availability
    • Course availability is dependent on faculty assignments, classroom capacity, and student demand.
    • Students are encouraged to register early to secure a spot in their desired courses.
  5. Registration Holds
    • Students with registration holds (due to unpaid fees, missing documents, etc.) must resolve the issue before they are allowed to register for courses.
    • Students can view the status of any holds on their account via the My ZSC portal.
  6. Student Responsibility

  • Students are responsible for ensuring they meet all course prerequisites and co-requisites prior to registration.
