- PROCEDURES
The purpose of the Curriculum Sub-Committee is to ensure that the proposed curriculum changes meet the needs of the students and community served by the college. The sub- committee will achieve this purpose by performing the following actions:
- Review curriculum changes in terms of, but not limited to, quality, coherence, continuity, consistency, currency, accuracy, and appropriateness .
- Seek input from stakeholders as needed.
- recommend proposed curriculum changes to the Academic Affairs Committee for approval.
The Curriculum Sub-Committee is not responsible for the following:
- Creating or implementing curriculum proposals that it approves; such responsibility rests with the faculty, departments, and the administration.
- Budgetary consequences of curriculum proposals. The CAO is responsible for this function.
- Communicating curriculum changes to the broader college community.
Faculty and the academic division are responsible for the following:
- Creating the curriculum proposal. New programs and courses will follow the Currriculum Process for New Programs/Courses and use the Program and Certificate Development Approval Form or Course Development Approval form, when appropriate. All other revisions, including curriculum, program, and certificate changes, must file the Curriculum Revision Form (CRF) and supporting documentation by the appropiate deadline. Faculty must also adhere to the guidelines established in the Curriculum Committee Handbook.
- Answering questions from sub-committee members, as needed.
Once the curriculum changes are approved by the sub-committee, they are forwarded to Academic Affairs Committee for final approval.
After approval of Academic Affairs, the Registrar will document changes appropriately and communicate to the broader college community.
Curriculum changes can come from any of the following sources:
- Program accreditation guidelines
- advisory board input
- assessment findings,
- Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), or Higher Learning Commission (HLC), U.S. Department of Education (ED) guidelines,
- changes in the profession to which the curriculum leads.
