A.POLICY
This policy outlines the guidelines for academic assessment for course placement at Zane State College, focusing on standardized testing, placement exams, and exemptions.
B.POLICY GUIDELINES
- ACT®/SAT® Testing
- All Ohio public high school students may take the ACT® or SAT® depending on their school district’s choice.
- Students with scores below college readiness thresholds are encouraged to take the ACCUPLACER® exam.
- ACCUPLACER® Exam
- The ACCUPLACER® assesses abilities in reading, writing, math, and algebra.
- Students should complete the ACCUPLACER® before meeting with an advisor to schedule English (ENGL) or mathematics (MATH) courses, ensuring appropriate course placement.
- Exemptions from ACCUPLACER® Students may be exempt from the ACCUPLACER® if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Appropriate ACT® or SAT® scores.
- Credit for a college-level ENGL or MATH course with a grade of “D” or better within the last five years.
- Possession of an associate degree or higher.
- College Transcripts
- Students with prior college experience must submit their transcripts to the Zane State College Registrar’s Office at least two weeks before the planned semester of enrollment.
- Selective Programs
- Admission to selective programs may require college-level ENGL or MATH as prerequisites for specific courses.
