3357:12-14-28-Student Class Ranking Policy


A.POLICY

This policy defines the criteria for determining student class rank at Zane State College. Class rank is used to identify students’ academic progress based on the total cumulative credit hours earned.

 

B.POLICY GUIDELINES

 

  1. Definition of Class Rank
    • A student’s class rank is determined by the total number of cumulative credit hours earned at Zane State College.
    • Non-degree seeking students do not possess a class rank, as they are not actively pursuing a degree or certificate.
  2. Class Rank Categories
    • The following table outlines the classification of students based on their cumulative hours earned:

 

Class Rank Cumulative Hours Earned Freshman   0 - 29.99

Sophomore 30 - 59.99

Junior          60 - 89.99

Senior        90 and above

 

  1. Application of Class Rank
    • Class rank is used for purposes such as:
      • Academic recognition (e.g., Dean’s List, eligibility for certain awards).
      • Determining a student’s academic progress within degree and certificate programs.
  2. Non-Degree Seeking Students
    • Students classified as non-degree seeking are not assigned a class rank.
    • Non-degree seeking students are not subject to the same academic progress measures as students pursuing a degree or certificate.
