3357:12-13-18-Policy on Transient Students

A.POLICY
This policy establishes the conditions under which Zane State College students may enroll as transient students at other regionally accredited institutions. It outlines the process for course approval, transfer of credits, and student eligibility to participate as a transient student.
B.POLICY GUIDELINES
Eligibility to Become a Transient Student
- Students must be in good academic standing at Zane State College to be approved as a transient student at another institution.
- Students who are on suspension or dismissal from Zane State College are not eligible to enroll as transient students at another institution.
Approval Process
- Students must complete a Transient Student Form for each term in which they plan to take courses at another institution.
- The form is available at the Registrar’s Office or can be accessed online via the My ZSC portal.
- The completed form must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office for approval before registering for courses at the other institution.
- Students must submit the approved form to the host institution prior to course enrollment.
Course Requirements and Prerequisites
- Students may not enroll in courses at another institution for which they have not met the prerequisites at Zane State College if the intent is to transfer the courses back to Zane State College.
- Approval will not be granted for courses at other institutions that require prerequisite coursework unless proof of prerequisite completion is provided.
Credit Transfer and Grade Requirements
- Transfer credit will be awarded for courses in which a grade of “D” or better is earned.
- For programs requiring a “C” or higher in specific courses, transient coursework must meet this requirement.
- Courses taken without an approved Transient Student Form may not be accepted for transfer credit at Zane State College.
Restrictions on Course Enrollment
- Students are not permitted to take courses as a transient student during periods of academic suspension or dismissal from Zane State College.
- Students must ensure that the host institution is a regionally accredited college or university for the transfer credit to be valid.
Student Responsibilities
- Students must submit the completed Transient Student Form to the intended host institution before course enrollment.
- Students are responsible for ensuring that official transcripts from the host institution are sent to the Zane State College Registrar’s Office upon completion of the transient coursework.
- Students are advised to work with their academic advisor to ensure that transient coursework aligns with their academic plan at Zane State College.
C.POLICY HISTORY
