3357:12-13-16-Policy on Transfer Credit

A.POLICY

This policy establishes the guidelines for accepting and applying transfer credit toward degree or certificate programs at Zane State College. The policy outlines the process for evaluating coursework from other institutions, the use of transfer credit in degree completion, and student responsibilities related to official transcripts.

B.POLICY GUIDELINES

Eligibility for Transfer Credit

Zane State College will evaluate and award transfer credit for coursework taken at regionally accredited institutions.

Minimum Grade Requirement: Transfer credit is awarded for courses in which the student earned a grade of “D” or better, provided the course content is similar to a course offered at Zane State College.

Transfer credit appears on a Zane State College transcript with one of the following notations:

  • “TA” for a grade of A.
  • “TB” for a grade of B.
  • “TC” for a grade of C.
  • “TD” for a grade of D.

Transfer credit is not used in computing the student’s grade point average (GPA).

Official Transcripts Requirement

  • Students seeking to transfer credit must ensure that an official transcript is sent directly to the Registrar’s Office from their prior institution.
  • Unofficial transcripts or copies provided by students are not accepted for official transfer credit evaluation.

Application of Transfer Credit

  • Admission to Zane State College does not guarantee automatic admission to all College programs.
  • Once admitted, transfer students are subject to the same regulations governing the applicability of catalog requirements as all other students.
  • Transfer students receive the same class standing and other privileges as other students, based on the number of credits earned.
  • Students are still required to meet the College’s residency requirement prior to being awarded a degree or certificate.

Responsibility of Transfer Students

  • Transfer students must submit official transcripts from prior institutions in a timely manner.
  • Students who do not submit transcripts will be required to take placement tests for proper advising and course registration.
  • Students who submit official transcripts after beginning coursework at Zane State College will not receive a refund for equivalent courses they are currently enrolled in or have previously completed.

Compliance with Federal Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs Financial Aid Requirements:

  • Students who are selected for verification due to unusual enrollment history are required to submit official transcripts from all previous colleges attended.
  • Failure to submit these transcripts will result in ineligibility for federal financial aid.

Veterans Affairs Requirements:

  • Students receiving Veterans Educational Benefits are required to submit official transcripts from all previous institutions.
  • Failure to do so will result in the loss of eligibility for Veterans Educational Benefits.

Selective Entry Health Programs

  • Students applying for selective entry health programs at Zane State College may be required to submit official college transcripts from all previously attended colleges as part of the application process.

Impact on Residency Requirements

  • Students must still meet the residency requirements outlined in the College’s Residency Requirement Policy before earning a degree or certificate.
  • Transfer credits alone do not fulfill the residency requirement.
