A.POLICY

This policy establishes guidelines for repeating courses at Zane State College. It defines how repeated courses affect a student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) and outlines conditions for course repetition, including program-specific restrictions.

B.POLICY GUIDELINES

Impact on Grade Point Average (GPA)

  • If a student repeats a course, the most recent grade received for the course will be used to calculate the student’s cumulative GPA.
  • All previous grades for the course will be disregarded in the GPA calculation, but they will remain visible on the student’s official transcript.
  • An appropriate notation will be made on the transcript to indicate that the course was repeated.

Transcript Notation

  • The official transcript will display all attempts at the course.
  • The transcript will identify the most recent course attempt as the official grade used for GPA purposes.

Program-Specific Restrictions

  • Some academic programs may have restrictions on the number of times a student may repeat a course.
  • These restrictions are outlined in the Minimum Grades for Specific Programs Policy.
  • Students are encouraged to review specific program guidelines and meet with an academic advisor for clarification.

Student Responsibility

  • Students are responsible for understanding the financial and academic implications of repeating a course.
  • Students are encouraged to consult with a financial aid advisor to understand how course repeats may affect their eligibility for federal or state financial aid.
