3357:12-13-11-1-Graduation Procedures - Petition to Graduate

A.PROCEDURE GUIDELINES

Graduating with a degree or certificate from Zane State College is not automatic. It is the student’s responsibility to complete the following steps in order to be considered for graduation:

Access Petition for Graduation Instructions

  • Potential graduates must access the Petition for Graduation instructions via email and ensure they follow the provided guidelines.

Advising Worksheet Review

  • Students must review their Advising Worksheet with their program advisor to confirm that all degree or certificate requirements are on track for completion.

Submission of Online Petition

  • Students are required to complete the online Petition to Graduate through their My ZSC account by the posted deadline for processing. The petition deadline is strictly enforced.

Multiple Degrees or One-Year Certificates

  • If a student anticipates graduating with more than one degree or one-year certificate, a separate Petition for Graduation form must be submitted for each degree or one-year certificate, even if they are completed in different terms.

Career Enhancement Certificates

  • Students who wish to receive a copy of their Career Enhancement Certificate must submit a formal petition. The petition process for obtaining the certificate follows the same guidelines as the petition for graduation for degrees or other certificates.
  • Please note: Students obtaining only a Career Enhancement Certificate do not qualify to participate in the commencement ceremony. Participation in commencement is reserved for those completing degrees or eligible certificates as outlined in the commencement policies.

Degree Awarding

  • Zane State College will not award any degree or certificate without a completed and submitted Petition for Graduation form. Students must meet the graduation requirements according to the catalog listed on their academic record at the time of petition.

Late Petitions

  • Students who submit a late petition may still have their completion date posted in the current term, pending the results of the degree or certificate review. However, this is not guaranteed.

Credit Requirements

  • Students who plan to utilize credit by examination, alternative credit, or transfer credit must ensure that these credits are earned and posted to their Zane State College transcript prior to the end of their anticipated graduating term.

Re-Petitioning

  • Students who petition to graduate but do not meet the degree or certificate requirements for that term must submit a new Petition for Graduation form by the deadline for their updated projected term of graduation.
