A.POLICY
Zane State College recognizes its leadership role in promoting and maintaining a tobacco-free environment. In conjunction with the College’s efforts to educate students, employees, and the community about the importance of health and safety, Zane State College is a tobacco-free institution.
B.POLICY GUIDELINES
Enforcing a tobacco-free policy is possible because the College places value on individual responsibility and leadership. As such, every member of the College community shares equally in the responsibility for adhering to and respectfully enforcing the tobacco-free policy. Ultimate responsibility for enforcement rests on the department of Campus Safety. Verbal warnings will be issued, but repeat violators will be referred to the Office of Human Resources or to Student Services and may be subject to disciplinary action.
Enforcement specifically relates to the following provisions:
- Tobacco Use is prohibited on all College-owned and shared property and facilities and within leased space and facilities. “Tobacco Use” for purpose of this Policy means any substance containing tobacco leaf, including but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, hookah tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco, dipping tobacco, bidis, blunts, clove cigarettes, electronic smoking devices, or any other preparation of tobacco; and any product or formulation of matter containing biologically active amounts of nicotine that is manufactured, sold, offered for sale, or otherwise distributed with the expectation that the product or matter will be introduced into the human body by inhalation.
- The above-mentioned facilities include, but is not limited to, all indoor and outdoor facilities, including entrance steps and ramps, restrooms, pedestrian walkways, entryways, terraces, and campus bus stops.
- Tobacco use is prohibited in College-owned or leased vehicles.
- Tobacco products will not be sold in College facilities.
The College President is authorized to create, implement, and manage procedures to assure compliance with this policy.
