A.POLICY
Zane State College (ZSC) may provide for cellular telephones on a limited basis, as approved by departmental administrators and the Business Office, to full-time and part-time employees as a business tool. They are provided to assist employees in communicating effectively with other employees, students, and outside clients/vendors as deemed necessary.
B.POLICY GUIDELINES
Cell phones that are purchased through the College are and remain at all time the property of ZSC. The primary use of the cell phone is for college-related business.
Individuals to whom cellular phones have been provided are responsible for the security and maintenance of the phones and must promptly report any damage to, theft of, vandalism to, or loss of the cell phone to the Business Office.
Any records, including call logs or text messages contained on the cell phone must be maintained as business records in accordance with the College’s records retention policies. It is the responsibility of the assigned cell phone user to maintain compliance with the records retention policy. Cell phone records may constitute public records for the purposes of the Ohio Public Records Act, and the College reserves the right to search any and all records maintained on the cell phone upon demand for purposes of complying with a public records request or for any other business purpose of the College.
All College-issued cell phones must be returned to the College upon separation of employment.
Under extenuating circumstances, exceptions to this policy may be granted on a case-by-case basis as approved by the CFO.
