3357:12-12-14-Faculty Marshal Policy


A. POLICY
Purpose
The Faculty Marshal serves as an important representative of the faculty at Zane State College, particularly during commencement. This policy outlines the criteria, selection process, and responsibilities of the Faculty Marshal.


Faculty Marshal Responsibilities:
Lead the faculty during the procession prior to and after the commencement ceremony. Act as a liaison between faculty and staff communicating responsibilities of faculty for commencement.


Term
One Academic Year


Selection Criteria
Eligibility:

  • Must be a full-time faculty member of the Zane State College.
  • Marshals shall have a rank of Professor. If there are no professors from which to choose marshals, then marshals will be chosen from the next closest rank.
  • Retiring faculty, regardless of rank, will have the right of first refusal.


Selection Process
Nomination:

  • Faculty members can nominate themselves or their peers.
  • Nominations should be submitted to the Faculty Senate before the first full-faculty meeting of Spring Semester.


Voting:

  • Faculty Senate will compile the list of nominated and qualified candidates.
  • Full Faculty will vote to select two Faculty Marshals.
  • The candidates with the highest number of votes will be selected.
