For Items on the Agenda
Any citizen of the College’s service district, student, or employee may request permission to address the Board of Trustees at any regular or duly called special meeting according to the following procedures.
- They must confine remarks to an item on the agenda.
- They must register with the Board Secretary giving name, address, and agenda item they wish to discuss.
- They must be recognized by the Chair at the point on the agenda entitled “Public Participation.” No discussion can be held by Trustees during public participation except by the Chairperson acknowledging the participation segment.
- They must restrict remarks to the time allocated by the Chair, usually five (5) minutes.
- They must observe decorum which enhances the dignity and business nature of the meeting. If this is not observed by the guest, the Chair may end public participation.
Items not on the Agenda - Student or Citizen of College Service District
If a student or citizen of the College service district desires to appear before the Board of Trustees on a subject matter not on the agenda, must satisfy the following criteria:
- Request to speak must be received in writing to the Chair or Secretary of the Board at least ten (10) days in advance of a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board.
- The request must state the subject they wish to speak on as well as an outline of the subject matter to be presented.
- If the Board finds the request to be germane, the item can be added to the agenda at the next regularly scheduled meeting or at the discretion of the Chair at a special meeting.
Items not on the Agenda - College Employee
If an employee of the College desires to appear before the Board of Trustees on a subject matter not on the agenda, must satisfy the following criteria:
- Request to speak must be received in writing to the President of the College at least ten (10) days prior to a regular meeting date of the Board.
- The request must state the subject they wish to speak on as well as an outline of the subject matter to be presented.
- This applies to desired appearances not covered under the Grievance Procedure approved by the Board of Trustees.
